Dick Jane Mashup Flickr Set

I’ve just been going through some old photographs and found this documentation of a project I did for Christmas 2003, as kind of questionable-taste Christmas presents for my questionable-taste friends. ;)

Basically, it is a mashup of a raunchy Mills and Boone “novel” and a “Dick and Jane”-style learn to read book. Surprisingly little work was needed to get them to go together, and some of them are hillariously well suited to the images… at least they are to my twisted sense of humour . :P

I’ve posted the images on Flickr in their own set, and I suggest you select “All sizes” to be able to read them a little easier.

Mystery Art box

questionmark

In a moment of inspiration while walking home semi-drunk from a friend’s an idea struck me:

I have posted a “Mystery Art” item on Ebay.

The idea is that as well as the sheer excitement of a surprise package, the winning bidder will also actually get some pretty decent contemporary art (as well as feeling good about the 10% Red Cross donation). The artist (i.e. myself) gets the financial flexibility of a patron, and the motivation to produce, without the stymied creativity that comes with usual commission. Some inspiration comes from a Dada artist who used to sell mystery boxes filled with such things as instructions for paper aeroplanes, and hair. While I’m not guaranteeing anything, I expect my packages to have something a little more worth while in them. :)

Please check out the item on Ebay Cached ebay listing, and tell your friends and major media moguls: The exposure will definitely come in handy! :)

Edit: Harrah! Johannes Grenzfurthner from Monochrom art group has blogged my item listing. :) Monochrom is “an art-technology-philosophy group of basket weaving enthusiasts and theory do-it-yourselfers”, so basically I very much dig them ;)

Carrie & Vostok

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

I have an idea. The system works like this:

“A man has an idea. The idea attracts others, like-minded. The idea expands…”

I like my idea - I think it’s rad. I want it to expand.

Basically, imagine an two protagonists whose day-to-day lives are represented by many many different people, in many-many different ways. In the same way as some stories and protagonists are used as building blocks for creative endevours, a loose central narrative will be woven by the threads of each contributor. Interested? Check out http://www.neonascent.net/CarrieVostok for a bit more info.

At the moment I’m looking for interested and helpful friends to help build up a little collection of example material, that can go on the site and give the masses something to chew on. Please contact me if you want to help!

New Name Neonascent

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Well, you may notice that you are no longer at Much Mojo. The blog will still be reachable through all the old avenues, and now www.neonascent.com .org and .net all point to this too. Muchmojo is a little silly, and neonascent is a domain name appropriate for both online art portfolio, IT consulting, and the promised online gallery.

Hope you enjoy it. It’s about time for more regular posts! :)
